We are delighted to announce that the International Conference on Gerontechnology 2024 (ICG2024), hosted by the School of Nursing and Health Sciences, Hong Kong Metropolitan University (HKMU), will be held between 11 and 13 December 2024 (Wednesday to Friday) in the HKMU Campus in Hong Kong. We eagerly anticipate your presence for this unique opportunity to connect, learn, and collaborate.

The first ICG was organised in 2020 to provide an interdisciplinary platform for local and overseas researchers, academics, service providers, health professionals, users, and policy makers to share the latest innovations, trends, challenges, solutions, and insights in the development and use of gerontechnology.

The theme of the ICG2024 is "Collaborating for the Future of Gerontechnology”. It reflects the growing importance of gerontechnology in addressing the needs of our rapidly aging global population. Given the global long-life expectancy rate and low birth rate, population aging is widespread across the world, leading to a surge in healthcare demands of the aging population. There is an increasing trend in the adoption of various forms of gerontechnology, which promotes independence among older adults and enhances their quality of life.

This three-day conference will feature a variety of interactive programmes, including keynote speeches, concurrent symposia, an invited forum, and poster and oral presentations. Our distinguished panel of speakers will share their expertise, present their valuable experiences, and discuss the challenges and opportunities on a wide range of topics in the field of gerontechnology. It will not only inspire us but also foster new collaborations and partnerships that can drive the future development of gerontechnology.

Unique to this year, it is our joy to organise a Gerontech Competition, which has sparked an incredible response from the community. This is an amazing opportunity for them to showcase their experiences and benefits of applying novel technology to enhance the quality of life among older adults. We can raise awareness about the benefits and applications of gerontechnology, inspiring even more people to get involved and make a difference.
