Prof. Liu has accumulated over 20 years of experience in the academic realm, where she has established herself as a leading researcher. One of her notable research programs focuses on utilizing gerontechnology, such as virtual reality, wearable sensors, and e-health technology, to implement exercise, offer nutritional advice, and provide psycho-behavioral interventions for managing issues like fatigue, sarcopenia, low physical activity levels, falls, and decreased social participation among older individuals with frailty.


She is renowned as a well-established scientist, ranking among the top 2% of cited scientists in her field in both 2021 and 2022. With a portfolio exceeding 100 SCI/SSCI indexed papers across various healthcare journals, her expertise is widely recognized. Prof. Liu has earned the trust of funders and governmental bodies, consistently securing external and internal grants as the principal investigator for her research and consultancy projects.


Furthermore, she excels as an innovative nurse educator, revolutionizing learning technology in nursing education. Her pioneering work integrating virtual reality into nurse education and creating virtual hospitals has set new standards in pedagogy, garnering high praise from the global nursing community. Prof. Liu's success extends to commercializing her innovations, a feat acknowledged through numerous regional and international accolades, including the Asia Gold Award in the QS Reimagine Education Regional Awards 2022, FAAN in 2023, and induction into the Sigma Researcher Hall of Fame in 2024, honoring her ongoing contributions to nursing research and education.
